Ellie

by True Love Never Dies   Mar 27, 2008

You lay there so peaceful
An angelic little face
Butter wouldn't melt
But your parents cant take the pace

A beautiful little girl
And all we hoped you'd be
From the minute you were born
A pleasure for all to see

You run around with squeals of joy
Getting in a pickle
Ellie my darling little one
You are so terribly fickle

With a loving heart and caring nature
You play so hard each day
Your dreams to fulfill
In each and every way

Mealtimes are a pain for you
You cant afford the time
Ellie such a joy on earth
Granddaughter you are mine

Your sense of humour coming through
In everything you say
You are so funny little one
You really make my day

Into your land of dreams you go
Each one a brand new star
Teddy bears and dancing clowns
All driving in their cars

With slides and swings and roundabouts
To a land far away you sail
On clouds of soft white cotton wool
Don't you fall off! Hang on to the rail

You have a special gift to be able to still see through a childs eyes. I loved this poem. I could feel the adoration spill out as I read each line. The poem picked up momentum with each passing stanza. My favs were the last two. In these you get right into her mind. Great stuff.

^^And the last line. The metaphor for childhood, genius!!! 5/5
