What if

by unique   Mar 29, 2008

What if I was gone
Completely withdrawn
Lost within my own brain
Hidden in an unknown terrain

What if I no longer was around
Took a train right out of this town
Wasn't where I wanted to be
And was never again to yell "Whoopee"

What if I cried
And about the truth, I lied
Told you I was happy
When really I was crappy

What if there was pain inside
Which I've always had to hide
And emptiness that just won't leave
Would any of this, you believe

What if I was scared
For the future, unprepared
Lost in so much confusion
That definitely wasn't an illusion

What if I came running to you
While I was sad and blue
Would you know what to do at all
Would you prevent my fall

What if I was close to giving up
Felt like a life less pup
Was chasing after the truth
Through all of my youth

What if I broke down
And forever would I frown
Couldn't see through the dark
Was swimming with a shark

What if a farewell I must say
Myself I must betray
From these feelings need to flee
Don't know where I should be

What if, life is full of it. Nice work, good flow and rhyme that carried me along to the very end. I did stumble on these couple of lines though, where you may have pushed the rhyme a little.

"Would you know what to do at all
    Would you prevent my fall"

I also think your finish could have been slightly stronger, but all in all a thought provoking read, great poem
