Heart

by StandStill   Mar 29, 2008

An ebony box lays hidden
deep in a chamber in the dark
Smooth carved with lines
in it lays a beating heart

Blood wrapped up in little words
contains only fear and pain
the owner wanted to be rid of it
lock and key..never to be seen again

beat beat goes the heart
as it quietly rests
no light around
no witness to attest

a little stab here
a little break there
some things are made to be broken
but hearts don't care

hidden softly in, velvet dark
no light around to brighten the pain
only rust lays in it
and a heart dies...never to beat again
