Rose-Coloured Glasses

This torn black world has fallen apart
Hear as the angels above begin to weep
Fathers hitting their wives every night
Children lay in bed crying in their sleep

People walk blindly without their souls
How did this go so damn far?
All the dead, the punished, the raped
Have we lost sight of who we are?

Once there was a time when we could live
Go outside and not fear for our lives everyday
But now everyone is controlled by greed
Like a deadly disease taking over the same way

I look into the eyes of strangers on the street
And all I see is the pain they push down inside
Living and breathing like its a struggle to survive
Like there's something in them they have to hide

Is this what we were born on this earth to do?
Going on struggling to find a reason to go on again
We shouldnt have to force ourselves to be happy
We shouldn't have to struggle with such ugly pain

Can't you see we are destroying ourselves?!
Stabbed,beaten,torn away from the truth we seek
Media and government puts bandages on our wounds
Hoping that covers up the bullshit that makes us reek
