My Desire or God?

Every time I think of what we could have been
It makes me say " I'm such a fool. "
To think we could have had a chance
Being a couple only at school
How pathetic! I wouldn't be able to tell my parents
I would have to live a double life
I could never do such a thing, being a hypocrite and cause so much strife
For goodness sake! I'm baptized!

I have to live up to my promise to God
No matter how much it hurts
Marry only in the Lord
And besides, I'm way to young to date
So I guess our love will have to wait
Most likely it will never happen
Because you are not my destiny
Though my love burns for you like a candle's flame
Oh, my god! But I'll endure the pain

I'll get over it and stop dwelling in the past
Trying to change for you is futile
And though being with you would make me so over joyed
I have to choose God and leave you behind
