Don't ask me if I'm okay

by xXxUNOxXx   Mar 31, 2008

I got to school and everything is fine
Until they see the marks going up my spine
they say "oh my god what happened to you?"
I say "Nothing, there's nothing you can do."

Then, I go home, with this feeling of freight
I can't wait until day turns to night
I get slapped around like some sort of doll
the first hit, he gives it his all

There's a few bruises here, there, and everywhere
the smell of death is in the air
It won't be long until I am a casualty
of your messed up society

I lay in my bed;sore and hurt
who can treat someone like dirt?
I see an angel come into my room
She finds a way to end all this doom

I see this light in the corner of my room
It's the most beautiful thing I have ever seen
Now it doesn't matter if it's night or day
Just don't ask me if I am okay.

Wow...this is really amazing, the way its written feels pretty rapid...like there IS nothing to help...the details used are very good, hoping to read more soon.

    So wonderful.
i grew up in an abusive home, and well, you nailed it right on.
my. favorite line was..."I got to school and everything is fine
Until they see the marks going up my spine
they say "oh my god what happened to you?"
I say "Nothing, there's nothing you can do."

A good piece, well, I liked it anyway. A familiar subject, yet it seemed rather fresh in a way, maybe because it didn't really have any ill feelings towards the abuser. I think the forth stanza was the weakest, but only because it was shorter than the others, which broke the flow of a piece a little.
