Thoughts in my mind

For me it is day yet for you it is the dark of night
As the earth endlessly races on its way around the sun
Who knows if you are bathed in the glow of moonlight?
While I am basking in the warmth of the burning orb above

Sometimes I wonder why you and I are on different times
For me alone it is just another day of unknown events
Yet for you it is a blissful time for sleeping and dreams
Oh the mystery of our differing distant far-off global climes

I look around this home at the many things I need to do
Then think to myself I have no need to sit or try to hurry
After all, if I simply sit here with my mind on other things
Nothing will change then later I can start working with a flurry

No one will telephone me; no one will ever knock at my door
Today I shall not see one smiling face nor listen to a single voice
The passing traffic will be the only sounds I shall hear today
But in my mind I shall be thinking of the dreams you may dream

Perhaps I shall go for a walk and view the familiar sights
For sights don't change and remain in view each time I pass
Oh dear it looks like rain again keeping me inside once more
The pouring rain will lie upon the garden like an unwelcome cover

Therefore then I will leave you sleeping safely in your bed
And I shall stir and set about the many things I have to do
Why is it my day while you travel through the mysteries of night?
This is a thought I shall ponder while nature diffuses me with light.
