Disassociation of Yourself

by Beautiful Forever   Apr 1, 2008

Perspectives are only a hint of a lonely mind,
Leading you to believe "If you search you'll find",
But this can't be real, it could never be true,
The only thing you struggle to find - is you,

Who are you?, Whats your purpose in this life?
If you try, could you ever overcome this strife?
Do you even know the name of your own soul?
Or is this an imagination that will never be whole?

When you take something that is rightfully yours,
Does it set off a chain of meaningless wars?
Do you ever fear that you could never be real?
Running scared because you're too afraid to feel,

When someone is polite and asks your name,
Do you find that you never could feel the same?
That you really don't care who they are,
Or the reason they have that mutilated scar?

Does your reflection ripple the waves of your past?
Making you feel as though it will be unsurpassed,
Or are you incapable of remembering who you were?
Having a past that has been reduced to a blur,

Are you losing your way on this heart-breaking search?
Finding parts of yourself that make your stomach lurch,
Or are you finding that your entire life has gone awry,
That everything you've ever known - has been a lie...

-First off, I love the title of this poem. It's amazing. This stanza fits the poem perfectly. It made me think about "who I am."

I love all the questions, they were great. It was like you were writing what you thought and wondered. Which was neat. And, I believe thats what you were doing. haha. Anyway, awesome work and it was one of those poems that actually made the reader think b/c the poem contained several questions, unique poem. i enjoyed. 5/5

Wow. This is awesome. I am not really an expert about poetry, but just a beginner, I feel the flow was great. I enjoyed reading it. The message was good. I think you have a mature thinking way.
