Little Silver Birds

by brie kelly wise   Apr 2, 2008

Balancing on the railroad tracks that divided our little town
The small convenience store on Third was where we hung around
A porch on every house decorated with the latest wind chimes
We danced along the street in the dark just about every night

Spent every second drinking soda on the bike racks
Talking about how messed up our town is and what it lacks
Hate a little, love a lot, we got our philosophy from all the door mats

We will always die as the famous kids in a small town
The latest kiss, the latest broken friendship around
We wrote our songs along to the most famous wind chimes
We laid out our lives in the middle of the night

I think freedom is just one toll booth away
But who says we all want to escape today
We're predicting snow in our warm, windy May
There's so much we've all gotten to say
How we want to breathe this air and stay
And the days we prayed and wished our life away
We were just raised as little birds
Who danced for every light on in the town
