A Portrait Of Loneliness

by RaInYDaYze   May 23, 2004

The fragile and twisted silhouette
Of an empty soul
The agony of her brokenness revealed
Darkness is her only friend
It cradles her and keeps her safe
But it can't hide her forever
He always gets what he wants
She tried so hard to be perfect for him
Until she realized no one is perfect
But shivering on her bed, she sheds the perfect tear
Shaking and crying, she knows no comfort
Bitter and so afraid, she has lost everything
Her pride, her dignity, all respect for herself
How you wish you could make her smile
Make her see she is worth so much more
You know she is better than this
She is in trouble and you can't even help her, not this time
Don't doubt her love for you
Though it causes her great pain
How you wish you could hold her
And dry her tear streaked cheeks
But there is nothing you can do,
Now do you feel what helpless is like?
Even the darkness, cannot comfort her anymore
Or make him go away
She has lost herself
And as you watch everything you are dreading becomes reality
A dark figure emerges, crawls onto the bed next to her
She is so weak, so lost, abandoned
Sobbing, she has given up
She lets him come close and stroke her hair
I'm ready, she whispers
You look away, unable to watch any longer
A portrait of loneliness
A perfect picture
But no matter how you look at it, it's still pornography
