The Gift of Another

by ThugPoet   Apr 4, 2008

Its been a while since I've written anything worthy to read,
Like that poem I wrote telling my wife how much I loved her,
Now I find every part of me that makes me me compelled and in need,
So I write, of the Gift from Allah of another.

Inspiration it comes and it goes,
What gives it life can also bring it death,
But life, I've learned, concurs death only to show,
What lies beyond your last breath.

But this is different, I feel my soul changing from within,
An intimate revelation letting me know something amazing is about to begin,
Its overwhelming, I'm almost afraid of the strength it gives,
and I'm excited, barely keeping myself in my own skin.

I want to be a good father, I want to be a '#1 DAD',
And I know it sounds cliche but I want to give you everything I never had,
I want to protect you from all the things that I was in the past,
Work my body till the bone for you till this heart beats its last.

I want to teach you all I know,
The Right Path from the wrong,
God, Abraham, Moses, David,
Jesus Christ, Muhammad, the Quran.

I want to hold you tight and cry until all the pain is gone,
Live in the moment, breath and pray with you at the crack of dawn,
Play with you, my baby, till your hair grows long,
Answer your every question with 'go ask your mom.'

I want to watch you live life, I want to show you the ropes,
I want to inhale all your dreams and exhale hope,
But I'll tell you the one thing that I look forward to the most,
Being the best father, a better husband and a better man for you both.

So yeah, it had been a while since I've written anything worthy to read,
Like that poem I wrote telling my wife how much I loved her,
I had found every part of me that makes me 'ME' compelled and in need,
So I wrote, thankful to Allah for the Gift of another

My friend, I hope that life finds you well. As usual, your writing is beyond compare. I am sorry that my health and my schedule have kept me from enjoying more of your writing. Smile and know that you touch others with the blessings you write of.
