The Show Must Go On

by MeltInHisArms   Apr 4, 2008

"I'm okay-don't worry about me."
I'm hiding my feelings can't you see?
"I'm very happy-there's no need to worry."
Can't you tell that's nothing but a story?
"Everything's perfect-I'm not hurting inside."
Don't you understand I'm sick of the hide?
"Everyone sees the real me, my self esteem's so high."
Do you understand these quotes are all a lie?

I wish I could just say-I wish I could let everyone know,
that me being happy is like putting on a show.
Smiling and laughing with people who don't shut up,
that's like putting on the costume and scooping on stage make up.
Giggling with friends and goofing around,
that's my act-such a falsely beautiful sound.
Friends, family, teachers, and peers of every form,
their like my audience whose come to watch me perform.
I can't tell the truth-this is my time to shine,
the quotes above are all my lines.
I memorized them well and no exactly what to say,
and when I do, my audience claps in an approving way.
So come see my show sometime-people say it's quite a delight,
a show everyone wants to see-for them it's such a lovely sight.
But I must ask you once the curtain closes,
please don't throw bundles of roses.
Please stand up in front of everyone and yell, "this is all a lie!"
"this girl is really hurting! She's really about to cry!"
I'm sick of pretending and I just want everyone to know,
please be the one to stop this self-destructing show.
But I know that's asking too much and my hope is already gone,
besides everyone loves it and the show must go on.

That's deep tragic and beautiful...it was hideous. It was beautiful. It was nothing. It was everything. Great job.
