The Sadness

Sadness, Oh how it overflows
my body. It runs in my blood
like a toxic, like a virus, a
killer virus.

I try so hard to fight it
off to push it out of my
blood that it is poisoning.

I can only fight it off for
so long until I give up
from exhaustion, from hiding
this sadness within my veins
with a fake smile.

The Sadness keeps working its
way up to my heart. Taking
free rides from my blood.

Slowly...
Slowly...
It gets closer to my heart.

My heart screams out
for me to help. I try and try
but I am a failure.

I let The Sadness wash over
my already broken heart.

It devours my hearts greedily
but slowly. Making sure to savor
every piece of sadness and misery
that I have had in my life.

Finally it devours my last
piece taking along with it
my soul and my life.

Leaving me lifeless onto
the ground just waiting for
the next person, the next
victim, who touches my lifeless
body so it can infect them and
devour them too.
