Her Only Problem

by Midnight   Apr 6, 2008

She was hard to describe
Most of the time she seemed out-going
But even if she didn't show it
When she met someone new
It would always be the same
All she wanted was for people to like her
She never meant to be annoying
Even with people she knew for years
There'd always be a tensity from her
No one ever stayed friends long enough to know the real her
Either they'd hate her or distance themselves from her
It was a problem that was out of her control
A problem she couldn't stop
She was afraid of saying something wrong
Even though all she did was
Talk, Talk, Talk
As she sat at home alone
Eyes constantly on the phone
She'd beat herself up
About how she always messed up
She always wished someone would call
And want to hang out
But that never happened
Because nobody saw
That all she wanted
Was someone to be there
For when she would fall
Everyday she'd hate herself more
She tried everything
From geeky or sporty
From graceful to klutz
Nothing she tried ever seemed to click
She was never the best
Always the worst
People who acted like friends
But never wanted to hang out
Tried to tell her all she had to do
Was be herself and to do what she loved
Laughing in their faces
She had the same reply
I've tried that and failed
And it got me here
All alone and no one here to care
They'd always say that they were there
But she'd ask herself
If so then where are you when I need it most
Never would she say it aloud
But she'd feel it cold and deep
Like the daggers that pierced her heart daily
She worked and worked
But no break would come
deciding to start new she thought to move
Where she wanted to go
Her mother said no
For why would you want to live with your father
She would muse each time it was suggested
So day in and day out
She would sit there and wish
For a small change to come about
That would help her to her feet
Finally she met someone
Her father's old friend
Who had a daughter
With a lot of things in common with her
Not the pain and hurt
But the passion for sports
And the carefree of looks
Soon she started to wish
That that one friend
Would possibly stick around
Long enough to get to know her well
Enough that she could finally have someone
To talk to about everything
Maybe that hope will become real
There's finally a hope
And she's feeling somewhat better
Now that she's seen a light
Of an eternal hope
