Mask Of Emotional Deception

by Aaron Cabrera   Apr 6, 2008

You put on the mask
on your way out the door.
People see it and don't realize
what it is they're looking at or
who it is they're talking to.

They don't see who it is that
is really wearing the mask.
You've worn it for so long
that you can't stand it anymore.

The smiling mask that leads
everyone to believe you're someone
who you are not. Only to go home
and take off the mask and the hidden
tears come falling down.

Your blissful emotion is a lie...
and a damn good one because
no one could see it coming.
Until one day you're not wearing
your mask anymore.

But the world remembers your mask
and who they thought was wearing it...and
that is the biggest shame of all.
We'll miss your mask, we'll love your mask, we'll
never understand the mask...because
we never knew you were wearing it.
So no one ever really knew you
