Dear Reader, You'll Laugh

by Curing the Comon Cliche   Apr 7, 2008

Can you hear it, dear reader?
This unknown sound
Slow drums in a cavern
Echoes all around

No, wait, dear reader
Those aren't echoes
The longer I wait
The faster it goes

What is that noise?
It's getting faster
Invading my thoughts
What is it after?

Where am I?
A simple embrace
Giving her a hug
Why does the noise race?

I know what that sound is
Like a beat from a drum
I find it funny
I find I'm quite dumb

Dear reader, you'll laugh
So where do I start?
She makes it drum faster
The beat of my heart

Love is like an hourglass, with the heart filling up as the brain empties ~Jules Renard
