Let Her Shine

by Unrequited   Apr 7, 2008

She's wrapped in a time that won't let go
a past that never passes, a light that never shows.

a terror haunts her every night
and pours regrets upon her skin,
cold from the shadows.
her life is lived without a savior,
and so her will is never done,
voices masked with grief.
will she die for an undeserving heart?
too much love for the world,
I wonder if she'll ever learn.

it's programmed into her core
to live her life and fight for her right
to find a love that's truly worth loving.
yet disappointment is her cage
leaving hearts to beat their last.

she's wrapped in a world that drains her hope
a trouble that never fades leaving her unable to cope.

she lives not for herself,
but for the youth with which she's been blessed
to cradle and caress.
they glow with dreams yet to be dreamed,
and dawning faith soon to be believed...
constant reminders of what love can bring,
even after all of mankind's painful stings.
she remains, glowing as best she can
standing up to the world as long as she can stand-

but smiles cease to linger.
her light has dimmed,
will no longer shine
her heart has withered,
but never will it die.
this love still breathes within her,
and she will survive it all,
for somehow she maintains
the undying will to forever try.

and through her loss, through her trials,
through all the tears that she will cry,
I will never leave her side
to hold her loving hand, and help her light to shine.

she's wrapped in the arms of someone who'll love her everyday,
even when she falters, I'm the friend that will never go away.

*For a dear friend that seems to never win in life. Everytime she finds happiness, it is ripped away. I hope things someday change for her and her children, but I will always be there for them, no matter what.
