Names written
in stony places
forgotten memories
of once smiling faces

voices that merely echo
through the wear of time
people who you no longer know
come back for your thoughts to find

Lingering on a moment that was
Seeing the image of their face
in the depth of your heart
their memory will forever have it's place

Caught in between
what we wish and what is true
but you can't take back what fate has provided
or the ones you loved that were taken from you

And when all is said and done
a rock is all you'll have to rely
forever contemplating
on how to say goodbye
