Grey Lake, Hidden Tears, remembering

by StandStill   Apr 8, 2008

A glassy lake, with fog hugged shores
and a small girl, wandering, all alone
glassy eyes, oh, so dead and grey
are like the lake, hide secrets known to none

Her feet are tired, as is her soul
but she wears a little smile on her face
she knows how to lie to herself
convince herself to she only fell from grace

The pitter patter of her feet
match the sloshing of the lake
as she thinks back to happier times
sunshine, dancing, baking a cake

Back before her arms did bleed
and poems were scratched into the sand
before she was given the whole wide world
and before she smashed it in her hand

But she can't cry, no, not her
she's got that locked away
and though she is living...she floats along
like a ghost on the wind, sad and grey

In reading this poem, I can see, feel, hear, & internalize the emotions of this little girl. I love this poem, Came from the soul.
