Butterflies and Lilies (The Lizzie Borden Song)

by Gabba Gabba Hey   Apr 10, 2008

Butterflies and lilies I've followed where you lead
But I still can't see no light shinin' up ahead

Butterflies and lilies, please help me understand
Why, oh, why can I not find myself a man

Butterflies and lilies I just can't find a way
To get myself a man, I'd cry any day

Butterflies and lilies can you please help me through
Without that sweet comfort I don't know what I'll do

Butterflies and lilies I'm watchin' them walk by
But I can't seem to catch 'em, why, oh why?

Butterflies you've helped me with everything
Why can't I find a man that makes me wanna sing?

Lilies your beauty ain't never goin' away
Can't you help me find someone someday?

My troubles eminent
And my hope ain't prominent
So butterflies and lilies
You awful, awful tease
Please, please, please
Find me a man

----okay, so really bear with me on this one, because...well I'll tell you the story of how this came to be. You know the Lizzie Borden story?:

Lizzie Borden took an axe
and gave her mother forty wacks
and when she saw what she had done
she gave her father forty one

anyway, for some reason, I managed to convince myself she was standing outside the shower, so I was trying to do something to un-scare myself so I could get out (I know, I'm a wimp. And imagine, I love scary movies!) And I started singing, and the above is what I sang! It's a song--and I think singing gives you the full effect of it...not as good reading...but still! enjoy....!
