Portal To Another World Where Everything Is Better

by Emma   Apr 10, 2008

When I tried to sit down, I couldn't stop.
Instead I fell as quickly as can be.
I found myself in an alternate world.
The portal opened and admitted me.

In this world, all the men hold all the doors
For all the women who want to walk through.
No muggers are crouching in the shadows
To pounce and snatch your things away from you.

There is no question of what's right or wrong
Because wrong, as a noun, does not exist.
No Commandment could ever be broken
In a universe as perfect as this.

Nobody can ever fall into debt
And everybody is so pretty.
Everyone is always so happy.
Everyone's so smart and so witty.

This, reader, is the world behind our own
This is the place where ev'rything is nice.
You reach it through Magners, Carlsberg, Fosters,
Or vodka and coke with a cube of ice.

Wow!.. this poem is amazing and brilliantly written!

The ending is so unexpected and great! While reading it I was thinking.. yea its true that is the perfect world but too bad it doesn't exist.. but it was still interesting to read about and you did a great job describing this other world..

and then BAM the last line tells it all and makes the entire poem make that much more sense..

    amazing job. Great ending. I wouldn't change a thing. 5/5 =)

I thought the poem was okay on the whole. For me, it didn't really seem to flow very well. My favorite stanza was the third one, because it flowed the most and I liked what was being said, as well as the rhymes. I also really liked the end, nice little twist. A good end is always key in a poem.
