Plastic Keys

by brie kelly wise   Apr 12, 2008

Two days went by like an endless summer
I'm running through jeans like paper cups never last
Words are spilling out making plastic pages
It's something beautiful, rocky gravel took me home
There's still a field out there, one I can climb
All they ever say is how I'm lucky to be back here
But all I want to do is go back to the city
Away from endless rain and fake rainbows
Over summer showers we talked
Once again, I was back where I once started
Piano keys are smashing as they've been overplayed
Doors are opening as they've been closed for too long
I try to go back home but I'm left with a plastic key
And for that, I am praying it stays that way
