The Day I Heard You Sing

by brie kelly wise   Apr 13, 2008

I'm down on my knees praying this cold night
I remember how it all went down last time
There you were, playing me a song, looking me in the eye
About how baby pictures grace my mom's fridge
How window curtains seem to let the wind in
And how my eyes shine brighter than you ever screamed for
Ever since you wrote that chorus, I've opened up my door
But now you're a thousand miles away, singing for some other girl
About how the sun bounces off of her blonde curls
How her home town screams home to your fragile heart
And how her eyes shine brighter than an angel's arms
Ever since I thought about you looking her right in the eye
I've gone through pillow after pillow, soaking it in the darkness
Because I've drowned myself out crying on this cold night
And all I can remember is the day I first heard you sing and how it was the last time

    That is so sad.

I like the last line a lot.

    5/5 for sure
