Tarred And Feathered

by Independence Forever   Apr 13, 2008

With just a simple disagreement i am on the stage
they box me in creating an inescapable human cage

the grab me lay down heavy blows
they restrain me and strip of clothes

on with the hot oil burning my skin leaving me black
finally they cover me with feathers put me on a rack

for several minutes they raise me up for all to see
crowing and jeering no one comes to rescue me

after their fun is over they leave me lay
I can only keep still, cry and to God pray

after all this punishment their work is far from done
skin is burnt all I can do is cry and feel their shun

for disagreeing I was treated as no man should be
and those were so-called Patriots who wounded me

no one is beyond morals, and no cause beyond law
the inner workings and thoughts of man inspire awe

It is really awful what people can do to each other. You are right in recalling it though maybe it will help to not make the same mistakes again.A wonderful write.

Oh wow, I do not know how this poem was overlooked. It is quite a chilling piece you have here dear. The subject matter is so touching, it's a horrific story you have woven here, and one that needs to be told. I can't imagine the humiliation that our brotherkin have gone through. I honestly believe others should see this write it is truly magnificent.
