Alone

by Romancing the Darker Side   Apr 15, 2008

I sit in this world of hollow dark,
Searching for something more than this.
On a journey for acceptance I shall embark,
Looking for a way out of my black abyss.

I sleep in solitude, quiet, and alone:
The remains of all that I'd lived for.
This type of exclusion I've never known,
But this loneliness, I can't ignore.

Symbolic of the days that I'd spent amiss,
Secluded and solitary, this darkness is real.
Who should think that such pain exists,
So desperately alone, unable to feel.

I struggle to find a way out of this hole,
Trying to reach the depths of my soul,

I am found.

I like your choice of words through the whole piece a lot, you worded the whole poem greatly. The flow is excellent, your rhymes are refreshing and captivating from the beginning to the end.

I can relate to this piece in a way and probably many people can, which made it even more powerful, but despite the cliche topic you managed to write truly memorable, fantastic poem.

    My favorite stanza is:

    - Symbolic of the days that I'd spent amiss,
Secluded and solitary, this darkness is real.
Who should think that such pain exists,
So desperately alone, unable to feel.-

This stanza seems flawless to me. The rhythm, wording, overwhelming emotions- greatly written.
