The Ending of a Chapter

I watched the sun fade
in that big red sky
and against my will
I began to cry.

You have been gone,
for such a long time,
I used to be strong
but you let her take what was mine.

I gave up on waiting
for you to open your eyes
I gave up on hating you
for all of your lies.

I never was one
to compete for a guy
I never thought I'd have to
for you I would die.

I was so sure
that from birth you were mine
but I lost you so easily
and in such a short time.

But now I've given up,
I've closed that chapter in my life,
good-bye my dearest father,
