This Curse That I have placed upon Myself

by Rose   Apr 16, 2008

Invisibility, this cloak,
I have so deftly wrapped round me.
Comforting in its solitude
Comes around now
Only to mock me
As I desperately struggle
To disrobe
To let them know
I am here
That I want to be seen.

No longer do I
Wish to be invisible.
Tis a gift and skill
I do disdain.
This gift, now a curse
I have so deftly wrapped round me.

To add to what Pink Princess said: the title is ESSENTIAL to the way the poem works here. There are so many times in life we wish to be invisible, it's quite disturbing how many moments there are when we need not to be.

A very mature and compelling read.
