Thinking about the world
There are things I see but do not like
Things I want to change...
But how to make the strike?
America you can hear me right?
The earth where I must live is being destroyed
Global warming, destruction, and people littering
...turning it into a dump
Beautiful nature is being torn down
So houses for this outrageous population can be built up
Let's do something about this...America get of your rump
Babies are having babies
Aids and STDs are at an all time high
Let's practice abstinence
America do you hear me cry?
Violence is everywhere
T.V., games, and in every day life
War won't stop
Abuse, rape, murder, just more and more strife
America is hurting like its being cut with a knife!
The economy is slowly crashing
Dropping and bobbing like a feather soon to hit the floor
Poverty, starvation, low pay, recession
Some people don't even have basic necessities...America we need more
Big brother is watching
I can feel him breathing down my back
Dressed up as ordinary people
Like some everyday passerby Jack
America cut us some slack
They are waiting like vultures
Watching like hawks
Circling suspicious areas
Prepared to bring out the dogs
America treat us like citizens...not like wild hogs.
Racial profiling and random drug testing
Some things just are not fair
Even worse those in charge
Don't even seem to care
America do you feel unhappiness in the air?
In the city of Chicago wearing your own style of clothes and standing with a person
Could have gotten you arrested
And in Vernonia High School students were being ripped of their privacy
By having their urine tested
Sometimes America is not fair...although sometimes it is
It's sometimes hard to make the call:
To determine reasonable suspicion or probable cause
But we can't be too careful
For we don't want anyone unsafe to be breaking dangerous laws
But America don't be hostile...you can put away your claws
Right now I must sound confusing
But I understand you try to make us happy and prevent crime
But sometimes you should ask yourself
"America where do you draw the line?"
Sometimes the world is depressing, a huge spinning ball of sadness
There are so many things I would like to change
People to help
Systems to rearrange
In America there are things that happen
And I wonder if we have a choice
Can we really use our rights and Democracy to make a change?
America do you hear my voice?
