Very nice work, I can completely relate to this realization and think you captured it fantastically. The ending is my favorite part, I wasn't sure when I first read teh title, but I was pleasantly surprised. Good work.

Though I cannot directly relate to this..i understand what it means to be controlled, manipulated by somebody you trust...and so i can relate to this poem in one way or another. and i loved it. it's so sad...such a vicious cycle...how we allow them to control us even when they aren't around..*hugs*

Those cutting words are what still haunt me in an act
Many call self-harm,
But I call simply self-repair.

^ most relatable part to me....cutting words, it makes me think of a girl at school who used to be a good friend of mine..and now kills me with words and looks every day. and "self repair"....it feels like self preservation, i understand that.
