Along the winding road

by fazidah   Apr 17, 2008

Along the winding road
The fog covered the view
Tall trees stirred at the edge
Stood high as black shadows
Held the full moon high at the top
And down below the edge
Lied the valley of darkness

I pretended to be in slumber
But my heart was so awoke
It spoke of love and wonder
Which I longed to get from this
Inseparable memories that I dwelt
Led me through the underground torment
Wishing to reach your hair
Praying to touch your skin

You were so near
That I could smell your scent
Yet you were so far
I failed to reach your hand
I yearned for your voice calling out my name
As you returned from the heart-breaking games
I knew the chain that bound us
Would always lead us to eternal doom

Where are you now, dear?
Will you hear me when I cry?
Will you come to me when I call?
I longed for the night at the winding road
Where I chose to pretend in slumber
Yet I stared as you gazed beyond
Through the fog in the deep black night
I should ask, darling
Was your heart there?

Along the winding road
Which I traveled less by and by
At the edge, tall trees stand high
And far below the valley of darkness lies
Full moon hangs high at the sky
I gaze from up above
Through the eyes of the eagle
The place that will unchanged
For the memories to be preserved
And won’t ever be forgotten (gda**adg)
