Their hearts pounding, bodies trembling.
The time has come.
They embrace each other,
as they hear the heartbeat slowly fade away.
The room grows cold and still.
With her eyes filled with tears,
she clutches his hands;
And with what little emotion
and determination she has left,
She gives one final push.
The doctor's heart sinks,
as he lays the tiny
lifeless blue bundle
in her arms.
