Shattered

The tears fall steady one by one
As I watch you walk away
The nightmare that I seem to live
Now fades like night to day
I limp slowly to the bathroom
To find a bandage for my lip
Then I look into the mirror
At the bruises on my hip
My eyes glide gently upward
And meet a frozen stare
The reflection of my hatred
Is too much for me to bare

Now the sun is slowly rising
But it will set once more
The darkness brings my silent screams
From behind my bedroom door
I gaze back to the mirror
And my eyes now hold the light
I found a way to end the dream
My hope is now in sight
The mirror shatters loudly
As it breaks against the door
Splintered rays of lasting hope
Now lie scattered on the floor
In hand I hold a piece of hope
And a dream I hold in heart
I cut away my nightmare
With the last beat of my heart
