Response to a Poem

by StandStill   Apr 18, 2008

Her paintbrush bleeds
misery shoots through her veins
survives another day
just do it again and again

Silly songs are sung
and the angels all dance
jealousy consumes her
joy? not a chance..

And her beautiful art
is written in sin
pale, soft flesh
words pour from within

Her little release
it's all such a lie
there's another comfort
who knows how she dies

Pennies to jewels
she tries to believe
that a bleeding paintbrush
isn't what she needs

She lets it all go
and breath fails in her lungs
she stops breaking promises
sorrowfilled song's already sung

Scars will heal
so do broken hearts
shattered endings
lead to fresh, new starts
