Why Big Brother Why?

by Still Slightly Broken   Apr 18, 2008

Why big brother why?
Did have to end like this.
I know you don't really think so
But your company is the only thing I miss

Why big brother why?
Did you ever try that smoke
I clearly remember you telling me
That smoking was a joke.

Why big brother why?
Did you act like you were fine
I clearly remember you telling me
That drugs were no friend of mine.

Why big brother why?
Did you ever get sucked in.
How did you come to this.
How'd you ever get so grim.

Why big brother why?
Did you have to throw the first punch
That sound will never leave my mind
The sound of my fathers bones crunch.

Why big brother why?
Are you acting so proud.
Making the whole street wake up
From him screaming so loud.

Why big brother why?
Does it have to be this way.
I wish you would just look me in the eyes
And tell me you think of me every day.

Why big brother why?

Good job on this poem, I love it! Every stanza was written so well and you wrote such powerful words. You expressed your feeling well, and it is a very sad poem.
    Keep writing! :)

I liked this, it had a nice beat, it passed as having a rhyme scheme, certainly.
you gave it not just emotion, but you made the lines tell their own story: you didn't know what was coming next, save for "why big brother, why," obvisously.
    5/5
