As he said what he said
the cracks began to crawl
first down the middle
then spread through out
he started shattering this heart
the organ so easily broken
and so hard to fix
all he could do to hold it together
was wrap it with a string of hope
the cracks grow deeper
they grow longer and stronger
and this weak little heart
tries to fend them off
but the only thing holding
this shattering heart
is the string he gave it
