I Found The Balance Without You, But Now I Need You Here

Why is it when I hold you closer than I thought I ever could,
All I feel like doing is letting absolutely everything go?
With that look in your eye and crossed fingers behind your back
I could never guess the answer to the questions you pose.
All I ever wanted was that potent touch of your lips
Pressed on mine, but you never liked the forward type of person,
So I guess your mindset is a little too far gone for me this time.

It was then you backed off and pushed me away with silence,
And with that I realised I was the one that never liked going straight,
Because all I've ever known is the wrong direction in the wrong race.
So now with new shoes and a map of the world I'll start once again,
Because we all know everyone's supposed to have that fairytale ending, right?
So I'll head for the finish, and hope you're there on that horse you promised,
Just to take me away and show me all the things you said I would see,
And learn that I can hold you close and let go, but know that you'll be there to catch me.
