Undying Passion

by Kip   Apr 19, 2008

Just hold me tight
I'll slip if you don't
And I'll never reach you
Don't let me loose this sight

His smile cracked with blood
She couldn't help but shudder
His eyes creaked with vengeance
She had never understood

He reached for her
His hand caught hers
For a moment, everything was still
For a moment they were human again

But all moments have to end
As this one did
His fingers tightened
As she tried to pull away

It's a struggle of morals
Was their love worth the hatred
Was she worth his greed
Could her ice cool his fire

He yanked her back
But she refused to meet his eyes
So hard and furious
Was her need worth his downfall

The seconds pounded on
All was painfully frozen
Her heart ached
But she still couldn't look

His gaze unwavered
He had expected as much
But that didn't numb the sting
She had unarmed him

In the swiftest movement
He pulled her close
His lips brushed her hair
And for an instant her legs weakened

This connection held the grief of the world
Pride was his sin
And kept him in check
What he didn't say in that moment
I can't reveal
But it ate his lightless
And in that connection
He knew he had finally died
