This was an assignment for english class a while ago but i kinda like it so yea i hope you like it
Odysseus, considered a hero by most
Traveled great distances and had many hosts
First, there was Calypso who made him stay
There on her island where he cried every day
Until Hermes came to help set him free
And begin his journey out on the sea
Then he came across a girl washing clothes with her maids
He stared at her nervously and admired her braids
He convinced her to lead him to her fathers home
So he wouldnt have to stay out there on his own
Later when he arrived there
The Phaecians held a feast and treated him with care
But before he was sent on his way
He stayed and participated in contests for a day
And there is where the story telling began
Vivid descriptions were given of far off lands
They reached the land of the lotus eaters one the 10th day
And because of this addictive fruit Odysseuss men didnt want to go away
After forcing his men back onto the ship
They traveled on and resumed their trip
There was a giant who they only escaped from by trickery
But Odysseus, boastful as he was couldnt let things be
Huge boulders were hurled but it got even worse
To add to all of his troubles, Odysseus was cursed
Later he and his men were stuck in a cave
A few got eaten, but at least Odysseus was brave
He concocted a plan to stab Polyphemuss eye
Then because they hid under the sheep the remaining men didnt die
After these adventures and many more
Odysseus returned to Ithaca but peace was not yet restored
There were these suitors who had to be killed
They plagued his family and ate his food until their stomachs were filled
So finally the parasites got what they deserved
No longer would they be able to get on everyones nerves
Odysseus gave the signal with the wink of an eye
And on that glorious day those men did die
Throats were slit painful injuries were given
And after they fell they were buried by their own women
Finally the great king was reunited with his wife and dear son
And peace was enjoyed by everyone
And so if theres one lesson to be read
Dont ever go after another mans wife and just quit while youre ahead
