One Hundred Beautiful Dreams

by Goodbye   Apr 22, 2008

When I was 6 years old girl
I had one hundred dreams
I painted rainbows and unicorns
I colored the sky orange and pink
I went to the kinder garden
the aunties told me "color the sky blue"
One of my colorful dreams died

When I enter the school in age of 7
I was sure the time does not exist
I told it to teacher, she laughed
She taught us the months of the year
I told her they are only people's invention
She got angry and stared at me
One of my ideas died in my head

When I was studying maths
I asked my classroom teacher
"What is the biggest number there is?"
after we learned to count one to one hundred
She didn't answer but she said
"You will learn later after you study more"
My curiosity toward numbers disappeared
-After all these I still don't know the answer-

When we were children, we had 100 dreams
They were colorful and beautiful
full of sparkling, creativity, candy floss, crayons
but this society wanted to grow us to be part of it
It killed our 99 beautiful dreams of childhood
so we would never create new inventions
So that we would blend in the system called "society".

Wow, that was brilliant. The idea of this poem is just great and it is so true. Looking back at all the dreams we once used to have, we realize now that we have most of them if not all of them. You've done a wonderful job with this poem.

This is a really good write. Not only is it most certainly true, its also emotional.
This is what society does to us. Its pressure, its stress, and is all about what you can see with your eyes. I remember what It was like to see with my mind.
Society strips us of the ability to imagine.
    No imagination, all mindless nonesence!

    Straight to the point.

    Love it :D

When i first began reading this poem it seemed fine in the beginning, but it turned to be a stunning master piece when i read this line

"One of my colorful dreams died"

I never actually thought of it that way, THANK YOU
for giving me a new perspective in life
