Falling Forward and Backward

by RB   Apr 22, 2008

Sitting here upon my bed, so alone, so distraught,
Listening to the deafening silence that surrounds,
I can hear the fading echoes of all we used to be,
And it seems to me I've surely lost my ground.

I saw it all play out right before my very eyes,
Yet you blinded me with each and every word,
Ears covered I was only taught to read your lips,
Left me to imagine what could not be heard.

Half filled forevers leak off your tongue,
As they resemble my half empty heart,
Maybe it's half full, I'm not really sure,
Either way I'm still falling apart.

As my hands begin to let you go,
My heart holds on, still unable to see.
The tighter my grasp the further you stray,
Too much time spent to keep you with me.

Falling forward and backward, it's all just the same,
Dizzily spinning in and out of control,
I'm gasping for air since your holding my breath,
Sooner than later it's taking its toll.

I like the way you write, you really get into the words, the events, the live's of your characters. My favorite stanza was the third one, because the first three lines of it were written brilliantly. I love the way you see things, and how you put them. Quite unique, I feel. Good piece.

P.S. Thanks for your comments on my poems 'Movie Love' and 'When'.

^^ this stanza is really relatable, but instead of a lover, a friend. which is wonderful how flexible that is..truly wonderful.
