Imperfection

by AmberSherrellxxIve Been Sitting Here Trying To Find Myselfxx   Apr 22, 2008

She stares at her tear stained reflection
Searching and longing to see that perfection
Her wavy brown hair drapes down her back
Dark eyes wondering about how much she lacks

Her once smooth skin is tattooed with scars
Her lonely eyes sparkle with tears like stars
Her soft and gentle lips are curved in a frown
Lungs wanting to scream but makes no sound

Her light, fragile hands are shaking so fast
Trying to fake a smile but it just doesn't last
Perfection is just a dream, an illusion far away
Trying to be happy but happiness never stays

She's such a beautiful disaster that's falling a part
In many bleeding pieces is her shattered heart
There's a numbness in her gaze, oh so lost
She's trying to reach perfection but at what cost

She gazes at herself, searching what she sees
Thinking to herself,, "I hate being me."
She stares into the mirror, hating herself
Wishing and praying to be somebody else

She's crying silent tears, falling apart
Bloody pieces is her shattered heart
But as she searches, she finally knows
And a sweet, true smile finally shows

She stares at herself, loving her reflection
Knowing that there's beauty in imperfection
