4-24

So, about that horse…

I’m selling him. He is way too dangerous for anyone-- excluding professional trainers-- to ride him. I decided to get hard-core-tough with him for the first time yesterday, and he did not appreciate it at all. I brought him up to a simple trot, and he bucked, so I kicked him, and he bucked, so I pulled his head all the way to his ass and made him walk around in that tight circle 20+ times (it’s a training technique). He wasn’t very fond of that either, so as he was spinning he reared up on his hind legs resulting in my ass on the ground. I was not at all fond of that, and I wasn’t gonna let him do that, so I hopped back on him and rode him around the arena ONCE. The little mister decided he didn’t want to work-- if it’s even considered work-- any longer, so he stopped at the arena gate. That is like a major horsey no-no, so I kicked the shit out of him (don’t worry, I couldn’t hurt him). He did not enjoy being told what to do, so he reared up on his hind legs again, but I stayed on. I smacked him on the ass and kicked him-- big mistake. He reared straight up in the air, went too high, and ended up falling on his back… on top of me. Luckily, I pushed my weight to the side so he couldn’t land flat on me and break my back and/or neck. As he was falling back I managed to pull the leg that was over his body away so he couldn’t drag me around the arena by my ankle. Well, the other stirrup was still on my other foot, though it was detached from the saddle. So basically, I had a quarter-inch iron rod on top of my instep and 2,000+ pounds of horse crashing down on that iron rod and on my legs. Then he rolled onto his side to get up, and, unfortunately, rolled right on top of my lower body.

Luckily, I managed to hobble away with a mere fractured left foot, mildly sprained right ankle, and some nasty bruises.

I found a new horse, though. She seems to be perfect for me. She loves jumping! She’s a 9 y.o., 15.1 hand (5’1”), chestnut, Tennessee Walker. Her name is Dixie, and she has been jumping 4 ft. jumps! That’s my kind of horse!

Well, I gotta go ice my foot and ankle.

I hope everything’s well! I still think about yah (both of you) all the time.
I Love you!

P.S. Happy 11th anniversary, and happy 2nd anniversary.
