The Monster's Keep

by ScarredToTheBone   Apr 26, 2008

He looks at me with penetrating eyes,
Menacing smile tears into my soul
I wonder why I came,
But realize I can't be alone

Intoxicated,
I need my fix
Came back for one more smile
Just to try
And laugh awhile

But monsters,
They don't change
They have a code
And take innocent souls

I can't stay away, can't back out,
But I don't know,
If I'll make it out
Breath intact, I turn to leave,

But my heart catches up with my brain
And I realize I never had a chance
I belong here,
And squirming, bleeding, grasping
I am stuck,
Forever in the monster's keep
