Lesson Number Two

by Playaette por Vida   Apr 27, 2008

I told you I don't love you
I said I didn't need you
You think you heard 'I want you'
You think you heard 'I miss you'
But I, as do you, know that ain't true
I tell it to your face,
Behind your back,
In your ear, but you don't hear!
You never listened,
Even when your intuition
Was telling you our love was dead
I won't listen to you anymore,
I won't open for your knock at the door
You had your chance to bow out
While I was pushing you away
You think 'cause I was nice about it
That things'd turn out okay
I don't love you,
I don't like you!
The love that was,
Was merely gilded lust
Now that it's gone,
I can see things straight
You're the acid in the rain,
You're the plank in my eye,
You're the fly in my food,
The dirt in my rye!
What made you think I'd ever come back to you?
There're many lessons in life; all are true.
And the one you just learned
Is lesson number two.
