Rocking Horse

by StandStill   Apr 27, 2008

A little rocking horse
kissed by time's lips
slowly moving, back and forth
side to side it tips

Each curved side of horsey
has a story for it to tell
like the time so long ago
when from its saddle, little girl fell

Little girl grew up too be a woman
doing what all adults do
she lived a life of laughter
and a bit of misery too

Just like from the rocking horse
the girl fell, again and again
patchwork tears upon her face
as exhaustion starts to set in

Tripping down this road
of memory and tears
little girl's a woman now
who's daily racked with fears

Sitting in a dark corner
beautiful rocking horse in her mind
traces her fingers over wooden grooves
she remembers happier times
