I Know Now

by Lu   Apr 27, 2008

No moonbeams fall from the skies
upon a soul beaten by lies
sadness lurks within the breast
plunging daggers bring no rest
[I know now] memories never sleep

Into dreams they cast their spell
shadows follow the walking shell
sorrow hides in this pretender's grin
shackled thoughts confined within
[I know now] how to conceal tears

Slashed by the hands of deceit
taste of bitter, none to sweet
caustic venom of love's deathly bite
swallowed by the sardonic night
[I know now] what pain tastes like

A frozen heart sings no tune
shattered pieces forever strewn
sunlight wakes upon the eyes
never to be blinded again by lies
[I know now] a liar has many faces

Tomorrow brings a newborn day
with many words I will never say
the human memory can't erase time
and love can't be bought for a dime
[I know now] my love is not for sale

Endless questions weaken the mind
searching for answers we never find
who, when, where, why and how
the torture continues only if I allow
[I know now] some questions we don't
want ... answered

* Just some random thoughts playing in my head*

    Luanne,

Your poems often have a very deep meaning and so much truth in them. I too always wanted aswers to my questions...no I know it would have been much better just to go with the flow and not always try to get to the bottom of things:(
Very beautiful poem by you, sweetheart!

    Love, Ingrid
