Broken reflection

by \^^/Jessie\^^/   May 26, 2004

I look in the water,
And all that I see,
Is a broken reflection,
That supposed to be me.

That distorted image,
Is like me inside,
All twisted and mangled,
But I can't run and hide.

My broken reflection,
All twisted, cut deep,
Ripples from tears,
As I softly weep.

I can't see any beauty,
The water's fogged too,
I can't reach out and fix it,
I can't pull myself through,

The icy cold surface,
I'll just hurt me more,
So my broken reflection,
Sits, not restored.

Little fish dart off,
They run from my sight,
Little birds fly away,
I wish I could take flight.

I'm stuck all alone,
Looking in my eyes filled with rage,
Seeing my distorted image,
It's like from a story book page,

They all think she's pretty,
But she knows she's not,
It's just like a fairy tale,
But there's something I haven't got,

It's a happy ending,
To go with the collection,
That's not coming my way,
Just a broken reflection.
