Our Never, Never Land of Dreams

by Orchid Man   Apr 28, 2008

Each night as I lie sleeping, my dreams are dusted with the glitter of you
Rainbows touch each of us with their arches keeping us safely in their care
With you beside me my happy slumber takes me on magical journeys
Our days are filled with blue skies and the overhead chatter of birds.

We live in a Never, Never Land, free of danger and daily uncertainties
As we walk hand in hand animals run up to share in our happiness
A wise unicorn lifts his head and nods his approval then walks into the forest
Elf-like people stop to greet us then return to their Lilliputian ways of living.

There is a peace about this Never, Never Land that frees us from our daily norms
As we walk through meadows filled with flowers they wave their petalled heads
Animals walk beside us nodding their approval at your beauty and your gracefulness
The road winds and beckons us to our cottage where a wisp of smoke rises from a chimney.

Before we reach our home standing within our dreams a narrow bridge spans a meandering river
Below, fairies dance around the river bank then smile up at us with their own magical welcome
Tame deer forage for food from amongst green grasses unmoved by their knowledge of us
The cottage door bids us welcome and a wise owl looks down at us from the rooftop.

Darling, I'm so glad you share this dream with me as without you my dream would surely fade
The tranquility of our surroundings would become the bedroom we are now sleeping in
Reality would dawn and the coldness of this winter's night would draw me to you for warmth
But as I lovingly looked at you my smile would widen, as in truth, you are my love and not a dream.
