Many students have pled, "Pray tell!
Good Sir, kind Ma'am, I need a hand.
How should one write a villanelle?"

For the answer, their soul they'd sell
If only this cursed form were banned.
Many students have begged, "Pray tell!"

Nineteen lines, six stanzas... a Cell!
What sick mind wished to understand
How one should write a villanelle?

Those damned refrains, a daunting spell
Masses have fought, but can't withstand.
Many students have cried, "Pray tell!"

This ancient torture won't dispel!
Come now, the answer I demand.
How should one write a villanelle?

Beneath this formula, all fell,
Sanity grasping one thin strand.
Many students have sought, "Pray tell!
Why the hell would I write a villanelle?"
