The Ruins

The Ruins

Walk among the ruins
Crest of barrows swell
Silent ancient sentries stare
Faint echoes thrill the dell

Sarsen shadows lengthen
Summer Solstice gleams
Lichen dappled minions
Druid's lingering dreams

Alignments marking passage
Seasons through the mist
Bluestones rift with magic
From Merlin's dark abyss

Walk among the ruins
Cool lintel's horseshoe door
Staid circles mark eternity
Mystery o'er the moor

*Stonehenge...an ancient standing stone monument in Great Britain

It's difficult to pick my favorite stanza - because they're all wonderful. Your work is...genteel.

Monolith stones of ancient time, blue stones
for all to shine, the different polarity for all to see. On mound we stood together just you and me.
Sacred ancient ground we stopped and stared in awe .... big standing stone so tall.....
I captured the beauty....... lost in all

Wow, I love this poem. It deals with a lot of the stuff that I love to read about. The flow was excellent and the rhyme scheme was nice. Keep up the good work. *5/5*
